ROY G BIV GALLERY 2019 Exhibition Season

Jurors Melanie Corn, Sarah Fairchild and Angela Meleca will select the exhibiting artists. Each selected artist will be given a solo exhibition in one of ROY's galleries in its new Franklinton location for one month (approximately 400 sq. ft of exhibition space per solo show). Group show proposals will also be accepted. ROY G BIV Gallery is a nonprofit art gallery located in the Franklinton Arts District of Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 1989, ROY G BIV Gallery is known for presenting innovative contemporary art by emerging artists from around the world.





Dr. Melanie Corn is the fifth President of Columbus College of Art & Design. She came to CCAD in March 2016 from California College of the Arts, where, as the chief academic officer, she worked to strengthen faculty development and lead the implementation of new degree programs. At CCAD, Dr. Corn is charged with setting the vision and tone for the college and ensuring that educational programs are strategic and relevant. She received a bachelor’s degree in art history from Stanford University, a master’s degree in art history from University of California Santa Barbara, and a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.


Sarah Fairchild is a painter and arts educator. She received her teaching certification in art education from the Ohio Dominican University in 1998. She graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 1994, earning her bachelor of fine arts degree. She has served 10 years on the Ohio Art League’s Board of Trustees, two as board president. She has also taught as a Continuing Education Professor at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Sarah’s work can be found in several private and public collections, including the Columbus Metropolitan Libraries. Most recently her work was selected for publication in New American Paintings, Studio Visit Magazine and Manifest Gallery’s First International Painting Annual, Volume 1.


Angela Meleca is the owner and director of Angela Meleca Gallery. The gallery, located in downtown Columbus, Ohio features contemporary fine art. The gallery highlights artists across disciplines who present new and challenging creative thought through their work. Angela Meleca Gallery focuses on innovative and dynamic contemporary work incorporating a wide range of materials and concepts that challenge traditional boundaries.

3 – Submit the $30 entry fee either online or by mailing a check to ROY G BIV Gallery PO Box 88, New Albany, OH 43054.

  • File names: Use only a number (e.g., 01.jpg). Please do not embed your name in any images.
  • File format: JPEG or PNG
  • File size: No larger than 1.5 MB per photo
  • Detail and installation photos may be included in the 15 images.



  • For video submissions, upload your videos to YouTube or Vimeo and submit their URLs in your List of Works.
  • It is not necessary to remove your name from your account or videos.
  • Please make videos open to the public. Private videos will not be reviewed.
  • The first minute of each video will be reviewed.



  • File names: Please include your name on your Resume but leave your List of Works and Artist's Statement anonymous.
  • File formats: PDF or DOC
  • List of Works should include the following for each work:
  1.  File name (e.g., 01.jpg) or video URL (e.g.,…)
  2.   Title
  3.  Year of completion
  4.  Medium(s)
  5.  Dimensions




ROY's 2019 Call for Entries is open to emerging artists working in all mediums and styles. This competition is open to artists of all ages and from anywhere. Artists who have current gallery representation are discouraged from applying, and artists who have had solo exhibitions at ROY G BIV Gallery in the past two seasons (2017–2018) cannot apply. 

The jurying process is anonymous. Jurors will not view your resume. Aside from photos/videos, statement and list of works, no other materials will be taken into consideration. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Jurors select the artist, not the work. Accepted artists are encouraged to exhibit new work.

If accepted, artist will be assigned a month for exhibition in 2019. Artist is responsible for transportation of all artwork to and from ROY G BIV Gallery. If work must be shipped, artist is responsible for packaging and shipping expenses. While ROY staff provides installation assistance, exhibiting artists are responsible for installing their work.

Artists will be notified of their acceptance in mid September.
